Matrix Capitals’ Annual Rowton Brewery Trip

On Saturday 11th June 2016, Matrix Capital took a small group of clients and professional connections David, rob, Graham and Jimon a trip to Rowton Brewery, a quaint local microbrewery built in a converted Victorian cattle shed on a family farm based in the village of Rowton near Telford.

This small brewery has a reputation for big flavour when it comes to their home brewed ales. Jim Preston and his son Steve kindly offered us a day in the Brewery with two barrels of their famous Ale on tap for the group to sample.

Rowton Brewery has been supplying Shropshire locals and its pubs with traditionally brewed real ales since 2008. The quality is unparalleled by using a mix of high-quality Marris Otter malt, the finest hops sourced from around the world and fresh Shropshire water is drawn from their own borehole.

Their varied range of ales includes bitters, stouts and mild, brewing beers for every occasion, from a strong winter beer to warm you on a cold evening to a light summer beer, refreshing for those hot summer days. We were able to sample the two ends of the spectrum. Steve recommended their summer beer, Star Light which is Pale Ale as well as a new copper coloured beer called Space Walk.

We had a great day out in good company. The beer reflected Jim the brewer. Lots of character and good taste, a true reflection of Jim and his passion for brewing. Next year’s trip can’t come round soon enough.” – Steve

After an afternoon enjoying the Ales and homemade sandwiches, we hit the road for the second leg of the journey landing at the Blue Ginger Indian restaurant in Bridgnorth where the chefs and waiters worked hard to provide us with a feast of Indian dishes ranging in spice and flavour.

As well as members of the Matrix Capital team, Canada life representatives Kevin Barton and Patrick Kennedy – who have worked very closely with Matrix over the past nine months – brought a mix of business knowledge and comradery to the group, engaging the guests on a personal and professional level. We would like to thank Canada Life who kindly sponsored the meal.

The final leg of the journey took the remaining group members to The Black Horse pub in Bridgnorth which was packed full of atmosphere for the England vs Russia Euros match.

James Wilkes and othersWe would like to thank Rowton Brewery, Mawley Oak Travel, The Blue Ginger team and the Black Horse for making the day a huge success. Also, a huge thank you to all who came and made the day so memorable.

We hope to see everyone again at future client events such as the Burwarton show on Thursday 4th August 2016 where we will have a stand. We hope to see you there.
